I think I belong on this list. I changed the face of film criticism. For the decade of the 80s I had 200,000 loyal readers a week for my reviews in the L.A. Weekly, which were like none ever written before. Some were poems, some were flowcharts, some were short stories and screenplays. All were funny. None of my predecessors in the profession had been funny more than once in a while. I took it to a new level. I was funny all the time. It was so original that people started satirizing and copying me and now everyone does it. I've saved reviews from other critics where they deliberately wrote in my style and thanked me as backhanded as they could. We were all pals attending the same screenings.

I was also the first champion of Beyond the Valley of the Dolls. As a member of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association, it was my choice in our "critics choice" series, and I produced a screening of Russ Meyer's personal copy with Russ, Roger, and the whole cast in attendance for a Q&A afterwards. I also worked for Criterion at the time and we shot it for the laserdisc. It was transcribed for a book called "Movie Talk from the Front Lines" but the actual footage went missing and Roger and I spent 30 goddam years tracking it down. It finally came out on the Criterion DVD, too late for Russ or Roger to see.

I've posted a collection of my reviews at this address on Facebook. If they remind you of a LOT of current reviews, remember they're more than 40 years old. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10214280188574945&type=3

I also did a LOT of interviews. Many are included in this collection of SX-70 Polaroids of people I met, including Roger. https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10200848707676317&type=3

SPECIAL NOTE: My page was hacked and someone changed my name to Võ Hoài Linh. Changing it back is harder than you imagine but will happen soon. Meanwhile, I'm still using my page and Võ Hoài Linh is me.
